OPERA San Antonio Brings a Full Production of Amahl and the Night Visitors to Four Community Venues

Today OPERA San Antonio (OSA) is pleased to announce that Amahl and the Night Visitors will be presented throughout San Antonio this December. As part of OSA’s mission to make the arts accessible across San Antonio, this production of Amahl will be presented at four venues in collaboration with Magik Theatre, Alamo Heights Methodist Church, Carver Community Cultural Center, and Edgewood Fine Arts Academy. This production will also include the Classical Music Institute Orchestra.

Texas Opera Alliance names Ryan Speedo Green as its first Artist in Residence

The Texas Opera Alliance today announces that acclaimed bass baritone Ryan Speedo Green will be its first Artist in Residence. Beginning Friday, March 12, and culminating with his performance at the end of the month in Austin Opera’s An All-Star Concert, Green will participate in a variety of outreach and performance programs for the Alliance’s five member companies: Austin Opera, The Dallas Opera, Fort Worth Opera, Houston Grand Opera, and OPERA San Antonio.

Tickets on sale today for OPERA San Antonio’s production of Lucia di Lammermoor

Today OPERA San Antonio announces its return to live performances at the Tobin Center for the first time since the start of the pandemic. Starting today, March 1st, tickets are on sale for two “highlights” concert performances of Gaetano Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor on May 6 and 8, 2021. The production features Metropolitan Opera star Brenda Rae in the title role, San Antonio’s own star baritone Scott Hendricks as Enrico, and Scott Quinn, making his OSA debut as Edgardo. Rounding out the cast are South African bass Musa Ngqungwana, Austin-based mezzo-soprano Claudia Chapa, and local tenor Rick Novak.
